He knew how to challenge the more advanced students while still making the beginners feel confident and capable. It was exactly what I had been looking for—not just for myself, but for my son as well.
By the end of that first class, I knew I had found the place I had been searching for. The sense of community at Heart & Dagger was incredible. It wasn’t just about training; it was about supporting each other, growing together, and pushing each other to be better both on and off the mats. I could see that this was a place where my son could learn not just martial arts, but also life skills—discipline, respect, perseverance—all in a supportive environment.

Karate has its place, and I have nothing but respect for those who dedicate themselves to it. However, for me, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu was the missing piece.
BJJ has given me more than just a workout. It’s challenged me in ways I never expected, both physically and mentally. It’s taught me the importance of humility, patience, and perseverance. Most importantly, it’s given me the tools to defend myself and my family in realistic situations, which is something I value deeply as a father.
